This appellation is an enclave in the AC Coteaux du Languedoc in the Languedoc wine-growing region in France. The vineyard area totals around 110 hectares, located in eight communes of the Département Hérault. The white wine is made in dry or off-dry styles, and is made from Clairette Blanche grapes. There is also a fortified version. The AC Clairette du Languedoc Rancio applies to a wine that has been matured in sealed barrels for at least three years. Again, a fortified version is also made. Well-known producers include La Clairette d’Adissan, Domaine d´Aubepierre, CV de Cabrières and Château de la Condamine-Bertrand.
