in Basel. The primarily interested is Riesling.

Koln: unrelated

Koblenz: stay at the National Hotel near the train station. Some good
restaurants and a good place for Rhein cruises and to begin heading up the Mosel.
Great inexpensive shopping city.

Cochem: Nice town for food, castle visit. Good hotels.

Trier: great ruins, cathedral, shopping.

Bernkastel: center of Riesling for the world. Best producers are here or
nearby.

Strasbourg: good visit, inexpensive hotels, good food and great place for
day trips into the Alsace.

Basel: This is a nice town to drive thru and buy stamps. Expensive.

Not included in list:

Zell: inexpensive hotels, a rare public bathroom, some good wine producers

Zeltingen: public campground, great wine producers, inexpensive hotels

Piesport: some good hotels, excellent wine producers

Graach: great wine and inexpensive hotels

Trittenheim: great wine and great hotels

Colmar: good food, cheap hotels, great base for wine tours of Alsace

The easiest Riesling tour would be to overnite between Piesport and
Zeltingen.

Catching both the festivals and flea markets will make any visit more
enjoyable.

Feel free to stop in and visit us at Weingut Adam Lauer on the Market Square
in Bernkastel.
