Subject: Re: Anyone tasted the Fritz Haag Kabinett 2003 ? |
Just tasted this last week. It was the Brauneberger Juffer Kabinett 2003 and it was excellent. Well balanced acidity with more sweetness than the pradikat promises (2003 was extremely hot). On the nose: green apple, slate and rose. On the palate: some slate and minerality, dry fruit and apple. Just off spritzy which, for me, hid some of the white peach and lychee that I thought I detected on the finish. While there's enough youth still in it to enjoy it right now, I'm told that I should hide this away for 5 or 10 years and expect wonderful results. Plenty of people have written off the 03's; they should try this one. Also tasted the '04 Spatlese. My favorite compared to the 8 other regional 04 Spatlese's I tasted it against. Perfectly balanced. Strong slate and crystal-like clarity of fruit (apple, lemon-oil and peach). More apple on the nose. Nothing was overstated, allowing everything to come through on the palate. Long finish which sparkled on the tongue. At 3 times the price, the 04 was expected; the 03 was a great surprise and, in my opinion, a bargain. > >Anyone ?
