Subject: Re: What Happen To Fruity Kabinetts? |
| Hello GuyB Not so much worried about the status of Kabinet or lack there of. I'm sure it will sort itself out. However VDP does seem to have set itself up as an elite club with excellent connections in high places. The smaller less well known or unlisted wineries/growers will need to make sure their industry is not high jacked, which seems to me to be the case. The main issue I would have with VDP is if your statement regarding "that according to the VDP-regulations no Erste Lage wine, in a 75cl bottle, can be sold for less than 12,50EUR". If this is true then it is totally against European Competition Law. They can not set prices across the board in this way and they are acting as a cartel. It is the market that will set the price in an openly competitive market. Unfortunately I feel we will end up with the same situation as recently discussed on the 2005 Bordeaux vintage pricing. Please can you point to where it has the price setting in the VDP regulations as I can not find them? Also they do not appear to have listed the Erste Lage vineyards, or am I missing something?
