Subject: Re: GLUHWEIN |
| Anton, Colin, in germany gluehwein is very popular in the cold season, some ten or twelve weeks or so before Christmas. It is normally made from the utmost very cheap red wine, home made with sugar rhum and spices by the comsumers, or prepared at the wooden temporary shops which sell it in the inner cities. There are of course always some "ready-to-use"-gluehwein products, put it in a pot (or microwace oven...), but be careful... Because of the spices, the extra sugar amount and and , and because of the utmost low prices please imagine that the quality of these "gluehweins" is accordingly.... For me these "wines" always caused a big big headache in the morning... If I would like to drink some Gluehwein, I would fabricate it "home made", with a good but lowpriced burgundy wine or bordeaux one, and use spices (cannell etc) of best quality from a biologic supermarket or so. There are no known "ready to use"-products like this.
