Subject: Re: Need Info About This Wine |
| Hi Raymond, Matthias Müller is one of my current favorites here. His vineyards are in Boppard, but the winery is in Spay, where I live, so it's very convenient to keep in touch with them. This whole area is quite well-known for halbtrocken Riesling, I suggest a visit on your next trip to Europe. Well, it is quite difficult tracking down information on Rudolf Steigelmann. He has an own homepage, www.steigelmann.de, with pictures of the family. Your wine, which was awarded a bronze medal, is listed ex cellar at 4,60 Euros. Unfortunately, what with so many thousands of wineries in Germany, none of the print or Internet wine guides lists this particular winery. In principle, the Gimmeldinger Meerspinne vineyard is regarded as of good quality, but currently there are few well-known producers working the site. The only one listed by GaultMillau is the Weik winery, which produces some mid-80's-rated red and white wines there. Top producers in the area, of course, are Christmann and Müller-Catoir. Probably, your wine is a good introduction to the area and style. Enjoy it, and look for even better alternatives. What are the legal barriers to importing wine privately to your area? If you are in Singapore, are you in contact with Ch'ng Poh T'iong (forgive the spelling), he should have contacts to get top quality wines from just about anywhere. Kind regards, and please keep up the discussions in the forum, Peter "R More infos: www.wein-plus.com Unsubscribe: www.wein-plus.com/abmelden.htm |
