The „Paul und Andrea Wendelin” estate is located in the commune of Gols in the Neusiedlersee wine-growing region in Austria. It is sometimes also referred to as „Neuner-Wendelin”, as the building previously had the house number 9 (Neun = nine), the address is now Hauptplatz 1, this was done to distinguish the estate from the other Wendelin estate in Gols. A guest house is also available. The vineyard area totals 14 hectares, with holdings in the Edelgrund, Gabarinza, Goldberg, Haideboden and Langer Acker sites. Some of the sites border on the Neusiedlersee national park. Two thirds of the area is planted with the red varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and St. Laurent, the remaining third is planted with the white varieties Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Zweigelt, which holds 40% of the total area, is the favourite variety of the estate. The best Zweigelt wines of each vintage are named the „Zweigelt vom Goldberg” and „Lukas”, and are matured in barriques for a minimum of twelve months. Other premium wines include the traditionally matured blend „Edelgrund” (Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch), the blend „Novem” (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon, 14 months in barriques), as well as the varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, which is only made in the best vintages. New additions to the product range are the St. Laurent, which is matured in new barriques, as well as the Merlot, which is traditionally matured in large oak barrels. When vintage conditions permit, sweet botrytis dessert wines such as Spätlese, Ausbruch and Beerenauslese are produced. Grape juice and spirits are also produced.
