The estate is located in the free town of Rust in the Neusiedlersee-Hügelland wine-growing region in the Burgenland in Austria. It is run by Harald and Christine Kraft. The vineyard area totals ten hectares, with holdings, among others, in the following sites: Baumgarten, Gmerk, Mariental, Pandkräftn and Vogelsang. Red varieties planted are the following: Blaufränkisch, Blauburgunder, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec,as well as the following white varieties: Welschriesling, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Müller-Thurgau and Furmint. Sustainable vineyard practices have been implemented for decades. The wines are cool-fermented in temperature-controlled tanks in order to retain varietal character and fruit. Dry white wines are matured in stainless steel tanks, sweet wines and red wines are matured in oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months. The „Genesis“ range carries consecutive numbers, this designates Ruster Ausbruch wines made from various varieties. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.

A very homogeneous range, although this year the flagship wines were not tasted. One can certainly appreciate the meticulous work of the winemaker across the range, although one cannot help wishing the wines might have jus ta little more depth and substance.
