The Jost Höpler estate is located in the commune of Breitenbrunn in the Neusiedlersee-Hügelland wine-growing region in Burgenland in Austria. The vineyard area totals 24 hectares, with holdings in the Altvierholzer, Hirschäcker, Jungkirchberg, Kirchberg, Rosenberg and Schanz sites. Around one third of the area is planted with white varieties, such as Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer, while two thirds is planted with the red varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Additional grapes are bought in from long-term contract growers in the immediate vicinty. Most of the wines are matured in either stainless steel tanks or in large oak barrels, while selected red wines and small quantities of white wines are matured in barriques of French oak. The premium wines include, for example, the Pinot Noir Rosenberg, Cabernet-Merlot Kirchberg, Blaufränkisch Barrique Kirchberg, St. Laurent Erwein Hackelsberg, Privat Reserve (Pinot Blanc) and Riesling Kirchberg. When vintage conditions permit, sweet botrytis dessert wines (Trockenbeerenauslese, Eiswein) are also produced. The Wine Enthusiast awarded 99 points fort he sweet „Noble Reserve“ 1998. More than half the total production is exported (Europe, USA, China, Hongkong, Singapore, Philippines). Particular attention is paid to the requirements of top-class restaurants and specialist wine retailers. Höpler wines are represented on the wine lists of countless top restaurants worldwide. The estate also co-operates with two airlines, Austrian Airlines and Eva Airlines. Old vintages dating back to 1981 can be purchased in the vinotheque. Also on offer is a high-quality brandy made from Blaufränkisch grapes, and matured for eight years in Manhartsberg (Lower Austria) oak. The art cycle „Höpler Art“ has been presented since 2001, this assists young artists in showing their works, and includes charity wine auctions.
