The „Elisabeth und Klaus Straitz” estate is located in the commune of Gumpoldskirchen in the Thermenregion wine-growing region in Lower Austria. It has been owned by the family since 1781. A wine bar is also provided. The vineyard area totals five hectares, with holdings in the Aslatz, Badenweger, Eichkogel, Grimmling, Katzbühel, Rasslerin, Schwaben, Steinfeld and Thallinger sites. 60% of the area is planted with the white varieties Zierfandler, Welschriesling, Rotgipfler, Rheinriesling, Neuburger and Grüner Veltliner, the remaining 40% is planted with the red varieties Zweigelt, Blauer Portugieser, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The premium wines include, for example, the local speciality Spätrot-Rotgipfler, as well as Zierfandler, Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling and Cabernet Sauvignon. Annual production is around 22.000 bottles of wine. The estate also produces a wide range of other products, such as spirits, grape juice, frizzante and a Spätrot-Rotgipfler wine vinegar which is produced in co-operation with the well-known Gegenbauer vinegar brewery in Vienna. Of special interest are the wine chocolates, which are produced in co-operation with a confectionery, and for which various varietal wines are used.

Unfortunately, no wines have been submitted for tasting for several years now, so that we are unable to form a meaningful opinion on the current performance of this producer. For this reason, we see no option but to suspend the classification until further notice.
