Awards:
On 18. March 2007 awarded with Collection of the year

Membership: Vinea Wachau

The Rudi Pichler jun. Estate is located in the commune of Wösendorf in the Wachau wine-growing region in Lower Austria. The vineyard area totals 10,5 hectares, spread over the communes of Wösendorf, Weißenkirchen, Joching and Mautern. They are located in the best Wachau sites, such as Achleiten, Hochrain, Kirchweg, Kollmütz and Steinriegel. The area is planted exclusively with white varieties: Grüner Veltliner (55%), Riesling (35%), Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Roter Veltliner. Rudi Pichler pays particular attention to healthy grapes, uncompromisingly selecting only the very best quality. The premium wines include, for example, the Veltliner and Riesling wines in the three quality levels Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd, as well as the Weißburgunder Kollmütz (Pinot Blanc). Annual production is around 60.000 bottles of wine. Spirits are also produced. The estate is a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus association.

The vintage 2006

Rudi Pichler was very successful in the previous vinrage, his range of wines being named the "Range of the Year", and this year he again impressed us with a range of excellent, outstanding Smaragd wines of various varieties. These wines are still very youthful, and have a prominent mineral character, and we expect some of them to still improve with some maturation. Our compliments!
